PAUL FRANCIS

This month's photo is of Paul Francis who has often been called Mr Smooth being a reflection of his smooth style of surfing.  Paul is the keen SKA member attending almost every club meet and trip and is the club's Treasurer, a position he has held for two years.  When you next see Paul, ask him about the wave of 2012 he had last weekend.  He would love to tell you about it, and again, if you are prepared to listen.  (Both photos by The Gun)

PHIL ARTHUR WINS IN ROUND 3 OF THE STATE TITLES

BUT HE HAD SOME CHALLENGERS

Pinebox did win round three of the SA State Kneeboard Surfing titles but had to fight hard to make the finals.  In the finals an aggressive and determined attitude saw Pinebox win the final comfortably.  To find out who challenged Phil read the article on the competitions page.  (Link above left or click on the following link - State Titles)

FANTASTIC TURN-OUT AND GOOD SURF FOR THE MAY CLUB MEET

Thirteen of the club's sixteen members turned up for the Club meet, which was held at Cliffs in good surf fanned by a light off-shore wind.  In the above Photo Sytlemaster shredding one of the many waves that came through.  For story and a few more photos go the the club meet page.  (Link above left or click on the following link.- Club Meet)

Committee Stuff

The SKA Committee met recently and has asked that the following information be put on this site:

1. Yorkes trip in October has new dates, they now are 19, 20 and 21 October 2012
2. If anybody is interested in competing in the Coffs Harbour event on 21 & 22 July 2012, let Pinebox know.
3. The Mid year dinner will be held at the Deep Blue Cafe on the 22nd June.  If you intend coming with or without a partner please let Paul Francis know.
4. The South East trip in May is approaching fast.  Numbers need to be confirmed ASAP.  Please let Pinebox know if you are intending to go so that travel arrangements can be made.
5. Lovering's Holiday House has been booked on KI for the first weekend in August.  This is our big trip to KI for a weekend.  It is definitely worth the trip so keep that weekend free.
6. Currently the committee is looking at getting new T-Shirts and other merchandise printed.  They are still looking at designs etc. and will need to know who would be interested in what soon.  Keep an eye on this site for more information.

Just a quick reminder the third round of the State Titles are on the weekend of 5 & 6 May 2012.  Entries need to be in by 1st May 2012.  It's still a tight race for second so get your entry in.

Club Calendar

The 2012 Club Calendar has been finalised and includes three weekend trips away.  To view the Calendar or print a copy click on the following link (SKA 2012 Calendar).  If you can please aim to make two of the trips, if not all.  They are great fun.  You get to know the other members better, you learn heaps of surfing tips from the more experienced kneelos and you get to surf new spots. 

Please also note that there are two dinners.  Partners are always welcome at these dinners.  This is a good way for our partners to get to know the who you are spending your weekends away with.  If you can get along to the dinners that will be great.

Monthly Meet Page

This page will include write-ups and photos of the clubs monthly surf meets at the local spots.  The Club meets on the first Sunday of the month at 7am at the Seaford Car Park and from there a decision is made on where to surf.  Usually over 10 club members attend and if you are interested in coming along you are welcome to join in, but either e-mail or phone the President first.  (Contact details are on the About Us page.)  Links to the Monthly Meet Page are in the navigation panel (above left) or click here.

Club Surf Trips Page

This page provides write-ups and photos of all club surf trips for the current year and archives (pdf files) of previous year's trips.  The Club usually organises a number of weekend trips away, where members can surf different surf spots and enjoy a chat or drink at night time.  It's a good time to get to know each other.  Only members are allowed on these trips.

In 2011 two trips were organised.  One to Kangaroo Island and the other to Yorke Peninsula and both had exceptional surf.  For stories and photos go the the Club Surf Trips Page (link in navigation panel above left) or click here.

Member's Surf Trips Page

This page is dedicated to surf trips (outside of club trips) by members who are prepared to write a story and/or provide some photos for others to share.  We have members that are continually travelling interstate or overseas and this page is dedicated for their stories.

Peter (Stylemaster) Granton recently travelled to Sri Lanka and India and was fortunate to surf Aragum Bay, Sri Lanka.  Peter has provided some photos and a story, which have been included on this page.  Link to this page is in the navigation panel (above left) or click here.

SA Pro-Am Page

The SA Pro-Am, or Encounter Coast Kneeboard Classic, is an event that was started by some SKA members in 2009 and now the event is part of the Australian Kneeboard Surfing professional circuit.  The event is held in August of each year.  This web page is dedicated to this event and provides a write-up, photos and results of the event.  It also lists all the sponsors of the event, for without them this event would not survive.  Link to this page is in the navigation panel (above left) or click here.

Competitions Page

Throughout each year there is a small group of SKA members that compete in various events in South Australia, Interstate and the World Titles.  This page provides information on how these members have performed.  Events that have been covered in the past are all rounds of the SA State Titles, The Phillip Island Kneeboard Classic and the World Titles.  Please note that the SA Pro-Am is covered on a separate page (see above).  Link to this page is in the navigation panel (above left) or click here.

The About Us Page contains the history of the club, Committee , Membership  and Contact details.  It also contains copyright disclosures and other useful information.  The Southern Kneeboard Association is about its members having a good time together and sharing a love of kneeboard surfing.  This page also contains a number of thumbnail pictures of members having fun.  These thumbnails pictures can be expanded.  The link to the About Us page can be found in the navigation panel (above left) or click here.
